Robbie the Elf, otherwise known as Rob Gronkowski, made a surprise visit to Shriners Children's New England in Springfield on Tuesday, Dec. 20, the hospital said.

The four-time Super Bowl champion flexed his skills in air hockey and soccer while also doing origami with several patients. Gronk the Elf even took a note out of Santa Claus' book by bringing each child gifts that included footballs, jerseys and sneakers that he then autographed.

"He was extremely generous with his time and really brought smiles to the faces of our patients and staff,” said Frances Marthone, Ph.D., RN, Administrator at Shriners Children’s New England. "It’s so wonderful to be able to provide them all with an experience they will never forget!”

After his joyous visit, Gronk could not contain his excitement and shared his afterthoughts in a video provided by Shriners'

"Today was the best day ever," he exclaimed. "The kids were so excited. I was excited. They were so happy to receive all their gifts. Thank you Santa for sending us here."

Now it's back to the North Pole for the football-playing elf.
